Rockin' pots
I have to say that the student strike movement is still surpassing itself. After the red square, the ''Printemps Erable'', the nude parades here is the casserole concert. 8PM yesterday the neighbors surrounding me got on their balcon pots, bowls and spoons in hands and made some noise! One of them got his drum kit out!

Meet Agathe & Shpec
| Nothing like a good scratch on the brick! |
Never short on surprises, Montreal street gave me the second topic of the summer. I was proudly riding my Bixi on Fullum when I saw what looked like a chihuahua and a pig on a second floor balcony. I just had to stop and meet the beasts! I put the Bixi on its rack and walked back trying to spot where they were. I found them! Though they were TWO pigs!
The red one is Agathe. The spotted one is Shpec (hopefully spelled right, with all the excitement I forgot to ask!) They got the royal summer treatment: a coat of sunscreen and ready for sunbathing on the balcony, refreshing in the ''pool'', eating Cheerios, being lovingly scratched.

Zoé and Jean-Simon wanted to have a dog, but the landlord didn't agree. Where most us would have abdicted, they went for mini pigs. Shpec will grow a little more and Agathe might get a little bigger than him since she has hog DNA. Zoé explained her mini pigs were potty trained by Albert another mini pig own by Émilie (she's the breader) Agathe grow up with him so she was already trained when she was adopted by Zoé. But Shpec peed everywhere. So he went on training with fussy Albert. Peeing once on the floor was fine. Pooping was a big no-no. Albert pushed Shpec to the litter until he got the message.

Anyway, I have seen people in the media with their weird pets (Shpec is a Journal de Montreal Stars) from farm, jungle or both south and north pole, but the more minutes I spent on that balcony the more I considered having my own mini pig. They were so darn cute with their snout hovering over my hands. Would you get a mini pig? More pictures of Agathe and Shpec here You never know, you might be convinced!

Season opening
Hi guys! this is my first english blog! Always craving a new challenge. I am unemployed since April 6 and although I was very excited about the perspective off being on ''vacations'' for the entire summer, I must admit now, 4 weeks later, that I'm completely bored. Claire, I good friend of mine, suggested that I should comment the news on my other blog Anecdotes Anodines, wich is more a personal journal. But if I'm sick and tired of reading about the students' strike, I will not add another voice to the lot! So late last night (3AM), laying way too awake in my bed, I thought that it could be interesting to write about what's going on on Montrealers' balconies. I like to think that unlike other people in other vibrant cities, we have a particular way of expressing our pure enjoyment off summer via our balconies. Yes Montreal's urban-hipster-hippie-chic faune love a good terrasse, an underground or not festival or a walk on the Main, but there is nothing like a party on a 4'X6' balcony on a hot summer night.
Still a few weeks from the longest day of the year, I'm on preparation mode for an official season opening on my little piece of outside. I'm using the old material, 1 adirondack chair with it's side table, a colorful light string, a straw rug and a dining set for 2. I resisted the temptation to buy a huge lantern, which are really trendy right know. Anyway next step is plants and flowers.
How will you decorate your balcony?? Tiki torch? Rug? Lantern? Bean bags? Show us how you prepare your season!
